TRALA President, Peter Vroom, receives Bob Halladay Award from State Trucking Associations
Alexandria, VA – July 25, 2006 – Peter J. Vroom, president and CEO of the Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA), was honored as the 13th recipient of the Bob Halladay Award at this year’s Trucking Association Executives Council (TAEC) annual conference held July 18-22 in Stowe, Vermont. The award is presented to an individual who has made outstanding contributions in assisting and supporting the work and efforts of the state trucking associations. TAEC Chairman Bob Sculley, president of the New Hampshire Motor Transport Association and Vermont Truck and Bus Association, presented the award to Vroom during the farewell dinner on Saturday.
In presenting the award on behalf of all the TAEC executives, Sculley cited Vroom’s very active participation and support for the state trucking associations throughout his career. “Peter really gets it,” said Sculley. “He understands the true value of the state associations and their role on the legislative front. Peter and TRALA have been strong and reliable partners in pursuing state issues and have also been there for us when we needed help at the national level.”
“I am honored to receive such a prestigious industry award,” said Vroom. “Bob Halladay (former ATA senior V.P. for Federation Relations) was enormously respected by the TAEC membership and he exemplified the qualities of colleagealism, unity and integrity that continue to serve as the hallmark of the TAEC organization. The state trucking associations are the backbone of the truck transportation industry and are critically important to TRALA’s success. The friendships gained throughout my years of involvement with TAEC have been one of the most rewarding aspects of the relationship. It’s just been a great family to be part of and I look forward to my continuing involvement and collaboration on advocacy efforts for many years to come.”
TRALA, based in Alexandria, VA, is a voluntary, non-profit national trade association, organized in 1978 to provide a unified and focused voice for the truck renting and leasing industry. TRALA's membership includes more than 400 leasing and rental firms and 110 suppliers that make up nearly the entire truck renting and leasing industry. The renting and leasing industry is responsible for approximately 35 percent of all new Class 3 through 8 commercial truck registrations.
